How often should I clean my chimney?

It is recommended by HETAS to have your chimney swept at least twice a year when burning wood or bituminous house coal. Also at least once a year when burning smokeless fuels. The best times to have your chimney swept are just before the start of the heating season and after your stove has not been used over a prolonged period. At the end of the winter months when you will not be using your stove as much. You should give it one more sweep to stay clean for the winter.
